Cousin gave a few pinapples to
my parents. Having too much pineaaple and cannot finish it fast enough, it is the best opportunity for me to try
baking the pineaaples tart which has been long in my to do item list.
Day 1 - Started
with making the pineapple jam from scratch. With my father around who is expert
in peeling off the pineaaple, I got
peeled and cut pineaaples straight for my ingredient :o) There should be at
least 4 pineaaples, weighted about 1.7 kg after peel and cut. A lot of
preparation work, thinking, hesitating and searching to be done as this is my first time making
my virgin pineaaple tart. It tooks me at least 90 minutes cooking time which
ended around 1am in the morning.
Day 2 - Ten
years back, I used to have homemake nastar rolls pineaaple during Chinese New Year. Having tried many
different version of pineaaple tart, such as the enclosed version, pineaaple
shape, pie, cookies, tart etc, I prefer NASTAR version! However, I did 9 enclosed version just for testing and comparison.
The consequences of having too thick egg wash. It turns to dark brown colour.
Does the colour assembly the colour of caramel popcorn?
Father said that I do not need to put egg wash as it is for own consumption.
Hence second batch I did without egg wash.
My mother saw me took such a long time to shape it,
and volunteer to help and dough the jam filling for me :o)
It looks bored, but my father prefer it this way.
Project succeed. Tiring and time consuming. For 2 days I was ongoing washing lots of plates, bowl and utensil. However, I was enjoyed, satisfred, feeling grateful and happy. It is always good to have families accompaniment.
The pastry is soft and melt in the mouth, my mother keep repeating that it is even much tastier than the taiwanese pineaaple tart. Every time she tooks a piece, she will comment the same thing over and over again. LOL.
I do feel that the jam is a little sweet, in my opinion it would be perfect if it is less sweet . Happy baking....
